The grandfather of a missing Israeli 4-year-old has recanted his confession that he killed her.
Ronny Ron changed his testimony Tuesday regarding the whereabouts of Rose Pizem, saying, “I did not murder her. The last time I saw her she was alive.”
Ron confessed to killing the child after being arrested several weeks ago in connection with her disappearance.
Ron is also the live-in boyfriend of the girl’s French-immigrant mother, Marie Renault, who also is being held on suspicion of being involved in her daughter’s murder. The court extended the couple’s detention in a hearing Tuesday.
Israeli police are continuing a massive search for Rose.
