The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Jerusalem condemned the killing this week of one of its monks in the West Bank in what Israeli police believe was an ambush by Palestinian gunmen. The church statement made no reference to the possible identity of the killers, saying only that Israelis and Palestinians should try to end their bloody conflict.
