The Hamburg public prosecutor Tuesday demanded that former SS-Rottenfuehrer Thomas Wippenbeck, 65, be sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison for complicity in the murder of numerous Jews in Warsaw during the Nazi occupation. Because of conflicting evidence the public prosecutor dropped charges that Wippenbeck had personally hanged, shot or tortured Jews to death. Last week he demanded life imprisonment for Dr. Ludwig Hahn, 65, accused of 47 murders and one attempted murder in the Warsaw Ghetto. The court verdicts are expected June 5.
