The Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical Center is keeping mum about the first test-tube baby, a girl, born there a month ago, believed to be the first in Israel. The birth was revealed by Dr. Yosef Shenkar, director of the maternity ward, during a symposium on test-tube babies held here last Thursday. Shenkar would give no details and the hospital’s management said it knew nothing about it. Medical sources suggested the mother was fertilized abroad and gave birth here. The infant was reported healthy and normal.
