The Iranian army repudiated a statement from a top Revolutionary Guard officer who said Israel would be the first target in a U.S.-Iran conflict. Mohammed Ibrahim Dehkhani’s statement was “his personal view and has no validity as far as Iranian military officials are concerned,” The Associated Press quoted an army spokesman as saying Wednesday. Dehkhani had been quoted as saying that if America makes “any mischief” against Iran, “the first place we target will be Israel.” The Revolutionary Guard is the more ideologically driven component of the Iranian military.
