The Israel Aliya Center announced that a total of 3,050 people went on Aliya from North America in 1982. While this figure represents a 16 percent increase over the number of North Americans who went on aliya last year, Moshe Shechter, director of the Israel Aliya Center, said this number must be “doubled and tripled if we are to ensure the survival of the Jewish nation.”
