The Israeli army decided to begin closing gas mask distribution centers that were opened at the start of the latest crisis with Iraq. Some 65 stations were opened last week to hand out and update civil defense kits in case Iraq bombed Israel. Israeli army officials said the public appeared not to be affected by the tensions in the Persian Gulf, saying only some 26,000 people came to the centers.
