The Israeli Consulate in Sao Paulo is slated to reopen in 2005, two years after it closed, an Israeli official said. The reopening of the diplomatic office in Brazil’s largest city was announced by Dorit Shavit, director of the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Latin American department, during a recent meeting with Brazilian Jewish leaders in Tel Aviv.
