The Israeli economy lost almost a million working days in 93 strikes in 1983. The Labor and Social Affairs Ministry said that 188,305 workers took part in 93 strikes during the year. The Ministry said that 78 percent of the days lost were due to the three-month strike of salaried doctors in the public sector. In addition to the full strikes, there were also 47 partial strikes in which another 104,506 workers took part.
