The Israeli government is searching for ways to withdraw from southern Lebanon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Army Radio. Facing growing criticism during the run-up to the elections over the growing Israeli death toll there, he said Thursday that the army would leave Lebanon “if I am convinced that the risks are smaller than the danger of remaining” there. But at the same time, he added, “I am not prepared to leave unilaterally with the tail between the legs.”
