The Jerusalem City Council has its first openly gay member. “It is time for people to understand that Jerusalem is a diverse city,” Jerry Levinson said Wednesday, when he and two other new council members were appointed. Rabbi David Lazar, a representative of the Reform movement, and lawyer Osama Sa’adia, a representative of the Arab community, also will join the council.
