The Jewish Agency’s aliya (immigration) department is encouraged by the volume of British immigration to Israel so far this year. A spokesman for the agency told JTA that 350 settlers left for Israel during the first three months of 1969 compared to 209 during the same period in 1968. He said the figures did not include temporary residents. According to the official, if the trend continues, the 1968 total of 1,035 will be surpassed easily this year. He said most of the immigrants were between 18 and 29 and that 20 percent are professionals.
