The Jewish bank and all Jewish kassas in Harbin are bankrupt, a Soviet report here states. The difficulties, it is declared, are due to the liquidation of the Far Eastern Bank controlled by the Soviet which supplied the Jewish kassas with credit.
Shareholders and depositors are besieging the doors of the bank for money. Tens of thousands of dollars will be lost, it is anticipated.
Nervousness and tensity pervades the Jewish community in Harbin. The Jews are afraid that pogroms are inevitable if the White Army evacuates the city before the Red Army enters. Such an eventuality is anticipated in Harbin if the Sino-Russian dispute is not settled soon.
