The Jewish cemetery of Bischeim, near Strasbourg, was desecrated over the weekend. Tombstones were overturned and inscriptions painted over. The city’s rabbi, Claude Lederer, said vandals and not anti-Semites might be responsible. The local police have started an official investigation at the request of the local district attorney. The cemetery, which also serves the Strasbourg community, is considered a historic site.
