The Jewish community of Phoenix increased by 10,000 in 1998 for a total of 60,000 Jews, the greatest population increase of any U.S. Jewish community. According to a report in the 99th edition of the American Jewish Yearbook, two other communities reported significant Jewish population gains: Tampa, Fla. (5,000), and Palm Springs, Calif. (4,150).
