The Jewish Council for Public Affairs opened its annual plenum in Washington. Policy issues to be addressed at the plenum, held Sunday through Tuesday, include church divestment from Israel, the newly elected Hamas Parliament in the Palestinian Authority, Iran’s nuclear buildup, rehabilitation after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and keeping religion out of the public schools.
