The Jewish Council for Public Affairs voted to divest from companies that deal with Iran. Some 40 board members of the umbrella body for Jewish community relations councils and national Jewish groups held a conference call Tuesday evening and voted to exert political and economic pressure to help force Iran to abandon its suspected nuclear weapons program. JCPA had considered the issue at its annual plenum in February, but because the proposal came up at the last minute, it was deferred for further study. JCPA is now looking into whether it has any investments in companies that deal with Iran, Executive Director Steve Gutow told JTA.
