The Jewish Defense League here was given an award by Mrs. Patricia Nixon for its services to the elderly. The award was for JDL’s efforts in aiding senior citizens in the government-sponsored Project Find, a nationwide effort to locate elderly Americans eligible for federal food assistance and to enroll them in appropriate programs. The JDL chapter here undertook the responsibility of contacting and aiding the elderly in the Mattapan area where many of Boston’s Jewish elderly reside. The award was signed by Mrs. Nixon and Arthur Fleming, chairman of Project Find which is sponsored by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Six individual JDL members also received awards.
