The Jewish National Fund concluded recently the infrastructure for a new road linking Jerusalem with the Dead Sea. The new road –still to be paved–cuts the Judaean desert into two parts, and serves as the only alternative to the present Jerusalem-Jericho road. The road passes through beautiful landscapes, but so far civilian travelers can only use it after coordinating with the army.
