The Jewish National Fund has brought in chemical-spraying helicopters in its fight against the mysterious pine-tree-killer which is threatening to denude many of Israel’s loveliest hillsides. The killer disease, which has baffled international experts called in by JNF, has become particularly noticeable on the road to Jerusalem where the formerly lush forest glades have begun withering as pine after pine is attacked.
