The Jewish Telegraphic Agency was officially informed today that the numerus clausus limiting the number of Jewish students in the Polish universities and colleges was abolished by a special circular issued by Minister of Education Sojkowski.
Although the numerus clausus in Poland was not enacted as a law, it was practiced in many colleges on the basis of a secret circular issued by Minister of Education Glombinski of the former Grabski cabinet.
The continued application of the numerus clausus under the Bartel government caused great dissatisfaction among Jewish leaders and at the last meeting of the Club of Jewish Deputies, it was decided to introduce a resolution at today’s session of the Sejm expressing the lack of confidence of the Jewish club in the Minister of Education.
