The Knesset voted Monday to defeat a Labor Alignment motion that was, in effect, a rebuke to the government for unauthorized construction work on Bedouin lands in the Negev. The matter is before the Supreme Caurt which will receive a legal opinion from the Attorney General this Friday. Neverthless, the Knesset interrupted Its Passover recess for a special session Monday at the demand of the Labor Alignment. The two hour debate was marked by jeers and catcalls from both sides as opposition speakers attacked government policies generally and the coalition parties responded in kind At the conclusion, the latter rallied their majority to kill a Labor-sponsored agenda motion that called on the government to “observer the law during the redeployment in the Negev.”
