The lawyer representing 10 Iranian Jews convicted on charges of spying for Israel has issued a call for help, according to an American Jewish advocate for the jailed Jews. Ismail Nasseri may be “afraid that after the appeal is over, somebody’s going to bump him off,” said Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. Nasseri said Iranian officials had threatened to charge him with espionage if he did not help convict the 10.
