The leaders of the nine European Economic Community (EEC) countries meeting in Copenhagen agreed that a Middle East peace settlement must be based on Israel’s withdrawal from occupied territories. The leaders, who held a summit conference to discuss economic and monetary problems affecting the nine countries, reaffirmed their position that a settlement must be based on UN Security Council Resolution 242 “in all its parts and on all fronts.”
