But he, like other Lebanese officials, maintains that any Israeli withdrawal must be unconditional. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that such a withdrawal must be accompanied by Lebanese guarantees that it would prevent Hezbollah attacks on northern Israel.
