The memory of Lord Byron, the English poet, was honored yesterday by the Palestine population on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birthday. Sir Herbert Samuel, British High Commissioner of Palestine, gave a special lecture on Byron at the Biblical School, paying tribute to his great genius.
The Greek Consul, who was present, thanked the British nation for giving to the world so great a poet as Byron, and so sincere a champion of freedom. He paid special reverence to Byron, who sacrificed his life on the battlefield for the freedom of Greece.
