The Middle East peace process topped the agenda during a meeting in the Gaza Strip between Israeli Public Security Minister Avigdor Kahalani and Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat. Kahalani later told reporters that he reiterated Israel’s firm commitment to peace during the session. But he did not indicate whether Israel would be willing to turn over more than 9 percent of West Bank lands as part of a further redeployment.
