The National Labor Committee for the Jewish Workers in Palestine yesterday announced that in the six months its annual fundraising campaign has been in progress it has received cash contributions totaling $65,000, or almost double the amount raised in the same period last year. This is exclusive of the sums already collected but still in the hands of local campaign committees throughout the United States and Canada.
As a result, the Committee has been able to transmit to the General Federation of Jewish Labor in Palestine (Histadruth) twice as much money as in the same six months a year ago.
The drive for funds will be intensified during the remaining six months. The annual Flower Day and house-to-house collections will be held in all parts of America on May 5 and 6. The Committee is also calling a special conference of Jewish trade unions and labor leaders for the purpose of instituting shop collections.
