The new U.S. ambassador to Israel, Daniel Kurtzer, presented his credentials to Israeli President Moshe Katsav. Kurtzer told Katsav that he will work in the coming weeks to get Israel and the Palestinians to agree to allow outside monitors to oversee a U.S.-mediated cease-fire.
