The number of Israeli women who have AIDS or are HIV-positive rose by 28 percent this year, according to Israel’s Health Ministry. The prevalence of the disease among women was a focus of Israel’s commemoration of International AIDS Day. According to the ministry, 43 percent of Israelis who are suffering from AIDS or are HIV-positive are women.
