The number of Jews worldwide fell by one million from 1970-1985 but rose by almost the same figure in Israel, a demographer said here. Dr. Roberto Bach, professor of statistics and demography at Jerusalem’s Hebrew University, said the world’s Jewish population now stands at 12.881 million.
