The number of unemployed Israelis rose again in March, breaking the 200,000 mark for the first time in six years, according to figures released this week by the Central Bureau of Statistics. During his election campaign, Prime Minister-elect Ehud Barak promised to create 300,000 jobs within four years by redirecting public money currently spent on religious institutions to research and development programs, infrastructure and education.
