Although the Catholic clergy of Lwow issued an appeal for peace condemning the disturbances because they do not believe the doctrine of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, nevertheless this does not mean that the clergy does not realize that the Jews are in the main responsible for the occurrences. They simply desired to protect the Jews from the rage of the Christian population.

The “Gazeta Warszawska” was confiscated today for carrying inciting articles against the Jews. The publishers put out a second edition, however, when the first was confiscated.
