The Orthodox Union will honor the H.J. Heinz Company for being the first company to have one of its products bear the group’s kosher symbol. The June 6 dinner in New York will honor Heinz’s decision in 1923 to allow its vegetarian beans to bear the symbol. Today, the O.U. symbol can be found on more than 220,000 products.
