The Palestinian Authority president ordered his security forces to prevent attacks on Israel. Mahmoud Abbas issued the order Monday during a meeting of his Cabinet, as pressure mounted from Israel for a crackdown on terrorist groups operating in the Gaza Strip. But it was not immediately clear how the move would be carried out in the face of ongoing defiance from terrorists even within Abbas’ own Fatah faction.
