The Palestinian Authority prime minister backed a French proposal calling for an international force in the Gaza Strip if Israel withdraws. Speaking March 11 shortly after holding talks in Paris with French President Jacques Chirac, Ahmed Qurei said he also supported French calls for an international peace conference following an Israeli withdrawal.
