The Pentagon is ready to sell Egypt $3.2 billion worth of fighter jets, tanks and Patriot missiles, U.S. Defense Secretary William Cohen told reporters before leaving Cairo for a visit to Israel. He defended the sale, which would be funded from the $1.2 billion Egypt gets in annual U.S. military aid, by saying that if the United States did not sell the arms, there would be plenty of other countries ready to fill the vacuum.
