The Polish government backed a proposed law to create a 100-yard protection zone around the sites of former Nazi death camps in the country. The measure, which is expected to be voted on by the Polish Parliament later this month, would restrict business construction and public gatherings at the sites. The government proposed the law after right-wing Catholic groups erected hundreds of crosses last year near Auschwitz.
