The president of B’nai B’rith International said he had a “fruitful” meeting with Argentine President Cristina Kirchner.

Moishe Smith at Wednesday’s meeting said the Argentine government is pursuing justice in the 1994 terrorist bombing of the Buenos Aires AMIA Jewish center, especially by demanding the arrest of Iranian suspects through Interpol.

Smith and Kirchner, who were joined in the meeting by Argentina’s ambassador to the United States, Hector Timerman, discussed the high profile given to anti-Semitic issues in Argentina. Smith also praised Argentina for being among the countries that annually commemorates the Holocaust on Jan. 27. Smith was in Argentina to attend a forum on anti-Semitism, organized by the Argentina B’nai B’rith and the Argentine Council for International Relations, held Wednesday in Buenos Aires.
