The president of Turkey is expected to visit Israel and the Palestinian Authority later this month and become the first foreign leader to meet with Israeli Prime Minister-elect Ehud Barak. Turkish officials said Suleiman Demirel is scheduled to arrive in Israel on July 14 and meet for two days with Israeli officials before meeting with the Palestinian Authority. Israeli President Ezer Weizman is due to visit Turkey in September for ceremonies marking the 700th anniversary of Ottoman civilization.
