The proposal of several Latin American countries to recognize the Palestine Liberation Organization was condemned by Gregorio Faigon, president of the Latin American Jewish Congress. Faigon deplored the fact that some of those countries “had ceded to external pressure because certain factors appeared on the surface to be favorable to their interests.”
