The question of mistreatment of Jews in Germany was taken up by Sir John Simon in his conference with Hitler in Berlin, it was disclosed here today by Captain Anthony Eden, British envoy, on his way from Berlin to Moscow.
“The Jewish question in Germany was not taken up by Sir John Simon as a special question, but it was touched upon occasionally,” Captain Eden stated to press representatives here.
SLAWEK TO HEAD CABINET
Jewish leaders here today followed with great interest news of the fall of the present Polish Cabinet. Though dissatisfied with the new Polish constitution which will deprive the Jewish population of representation in the Polish Parliament, Jewish leaders felt more at case today as to the plan of Marshal Pilsudski to entrust the cabinet in the hands of Col. Walery Slawek, Pilsudski’s right hand man.
The hope was expressed in Jewish circles here today that with the formation of a new cabinet by Col. Slawek, stricter measures will be taken by the government against the anti-Semitic National Democratic Party which is opposed to Marshal Pilsudski.
Col. Slawek, who will probably be the premier of the new Cabinet, is known for his fair attitude toward the Jews. He was one of the leaders of the Polish Socialist Party and is Pilsudski’s intimate and most trusted friend.
The anti-Semitic National Democratic Party will have to give up its Jew-baiting propaganda under the tightened Pilsudski regime, it was predicted today in diplomatic circles.
