The rabbi of a Conservative synagogue in Jerusalem that was torched in June is touring the United States to raise money for a project promoting pluralism. American-born Rabbi David Bateman said Kehilat Ya’ar Ramot has received approximately $40,000 in financial commitments from Jewish federations in Washington, Chicago and Metro West, N.J., to create a think tank that would bring together all of Judaism’s religious streams.
