The rabbi of Belgrade was released this week from the Yugoslav army after the intervention of Jewish groups and the Serbian Orthodox Patriarch. Rabbi Yitzhak Assiel, who had been drafted a few days ago, was released so he could spend the Passover holiday with his family and the community in the Serbian capital.
