You are undoubtedly aware of the campaign which is being waged by certain newspapers, particularly the Hearst press, against allegedly radical influence on children in our school system. This has been climaxed recently by an open statement from Dr. Harold G. Campbell, the new superintendent of schools, declaring “there is no room in the public schools” for teachers and students “who insist on bringing political activity into the schools.”
The hypocrisy of this entire campaign is evident when we observe that no one word of protest comes from these sources against the increasing Fascist propaganda which is working its way into the schools.
The Jewish newspapers that are so actively engaged in fighting against the barbarous anti-semitism practised by the Hitler government, should be particularly alert against this subtle form of propaganda designed to prejudice our children in favor of the Nazis.
