The release of regular army personnel due for discharge will be deferred for three months, the Cabinet decided Sunday. It acted on a recommendation from the Army General Staff to increase manpower while easing the burden on reservists who will be serving some 60-70 days on active duty this year. The deferred discharges apply to all male soldiers and to women soldiers in special jobs who normally would have been released in the next few months. The measure is expected to be approved by the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
