The remains of ex-Captain Joseph Trumpeldor and his comrades who fell four years ago in defense of Tel Hai, have been transferred from their temporary grave at Kfar Gileadi to the grave situated between Kfar Gileadi and Tel Hai. Several hundred people took part in the procession, including all the local school children.
Trumpeldor was a Russian soldier in the Russo Japanese War, being the only Jew raised to the rank of officer in the Czarist army. He lost an arm in the campaign and was four times decorated for bravery. Afterwards he settled in Palestine and worked on the land. During the war he served second in command to Colonel Patterson. Trumpeldor was about 36 years old at the time of his death. His last words were: “It is good to die for our country.”
