The secretary-general of the World Jewish Congress plans to travel to Chile in an effort to head off an international neo-Nazi congress planned to be held there on April 20, the birthday of Hitler. Vowing to “mobilize public opinion” against Chile if the congress is held, Israel Singer said Monday, “Chile has business, it has tourists, it is a democracy. It doesn’t want to have public embarrassment.”
