The Security Council has extended the mandate of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) for another six months, until April 19,1986. The vote last Thursday on a resolution to extend the mandate was 13-0 with two abstentions, the Soviet Union and the Ukraine. The extension of the mandate of the 5,800-member force was requested by Lebanon. The resolution also expressed strong support for the territorial integrity of Lebanon within its “internationally recognized boundaries.”
