The Security Council will probably take up the question of United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF) in the Mideast in the next few days. The UNEF mandate expires Oct. 24. Secretary General Kurt Waldheim recommended Monday that the Security Council extend UNEF’s mandate for an additional six months. Informal consultation between members of the Security Council continued here Tuesday, The consultations centered on financial problems and the problem of parity of payments to maintain UNEE, According to Waldheim’s report, UNEF faces serious financial difficulties.
